Peer instruction, the flipped classroom and MOOCs have the potential to help make students more active participants in their own learning. Highly publicized local and national experiments by early adopters of these methods has led to an unprecendented level of dialogue about teaching on campus, at Rice and other institutions of higher education. As a follow-up to the September Scientia panel on "The Traditional Classroom: What Future?" and the October De Lange IX Conference, "Teaching in the University of Tomorrow," this panel discussion will target themes and challenges related to enhancing how studetns learn in our classes at Rice. Our panel of faculty will present their unique pedagogical strategies based on the scholarship and practice of active learning. Please join us for this important conversation.
